I was invited to join this group and after 36 years of suffering in silence , I am actively looking to talk with other survivors about how they cope with their pain . This is completely new and alien to me and I will understand if other members don't want to share .
My hero is me ( and anyone else who has survived ) .
My superpower is a witty comeback or a funny line ( I hate thinking , "Oh , I wish I had said that " .)
My favourite films are Rocky , Groundhog Day , Field Of Dreams and Kung Fu Hustle .
My favourite T.V. shows are Dexter , Supernatural , Family Guy and Smallville .
My dream job would be a comedy script writer , artist/poet or a body double for Brad Pitt / Johnny Depp .
I love spending time with loved ones and it's just a shame that I have to go back home to my wife and kids ! ( I'm joking ... sometimes I don't go home at all ! )
I think I have a sense of humour but I've been known to be wrong before .
I'm fascinated by Ancient Civilizations and early creation myths .
Learning a foreign language and about their culture seems like a worthy goal . ( That is unless you're trying to learn Mandarin in which case give-up )
I enjoy making a connectioin with people and learning what makes them tick .
Oh .... if I wasn't living here I'd like to be somewhere safe ...I've heard alot of good things about Pakistan .
The one word that best describes me is ..... average .
Welcome! How would you like to be addressed here? (by Godofdanger or Surinder?) I just want to make sure so you receive the respect you deserve.
You certainly do have a gift of humor. I smiled a great many times when reading your profile. Thank you for that (oh, wait a minute, I probably shouldn't assume you were kidding---lol).
It is good to see you here, and I look forward to traveling along the road to healing with you. I created this place to provide a safe forum for survivors to come and express their thoughts, pain, goals..... I hope that you discover a lot of what you are seeking.

OH my word, yes-How could I have made such a slip and leave out the all-time champion of sci-fi?! The 'Butterfly Effect' seems very tragic. Now, when you recommend it because it is one of the few movies that deals with the subject, do you mean of time travel or of abuse? I can tell you of a few movies that deal with abuse that I have seen and they have elicited from me a "yes, that is what I am dealing with inside" response. They also helped my husband understand, just a bit- and I emphasise just a bit- what I am working through. As for self-help books that will keep you in a positive frame of mind...what are some you find valuable? I have a list of book choices, would you like to post a few suggestions there? One book I love is Deepak Chopra's "The Four Agreements" . Such simplistic agreements, yet so challenging to follow sometimes when the 'rush' of crap flows over me. But, that is what practice is for, right? There are others, but I would have to sit with it for awhile before I could share a list that would be more to what I perceive you like. I, too, get a rush from being nice to people. It helps me to feel good about myself. But, your statement about "takes the focus off me" leads me to climb up on my soapbox (you didn't expect me not to did you?). Can you explain a little more about what you mean by this? Because, my first impression leads me to think that you try to make others happy before yourself, or that you try to make others happy so that they don't try to do things for you. Now, don't you deserve attention in a positive manner? Don't you deserve to have some focus on yourself, too? Are you trying to hide? Is your niceness a mask of sorts? Ok, ok, enough box talk :o) Do you know that we can talk outside of your profile page? I just thought I would let you know there was a discussion board if you weren't aware. Have a good one! Kathy
